While this is an exciting moment in your life, the unknowns can also feel daunting. I am trained to be in tune to your needs, offer words of encouragement, normalize the birth process, and hold space for whatever feelings come up during this moment.

While I offer this support throughout all of pregnancy from the moment you book me as your doula, this is especially key in the labor process when birth is often unpredictable. I can help connect the dots from what you learned in your childbirth classes to what is happening in the here and now. I can help you process and form questions for your provider so that you understand what is happening and can make informed and empowered decisions. I will also teach you and your partner to confidently advocate for yourselves.

I love to help include partners in whatever capacity they desire in the birthing experience. A birth doula is in no way is a substitute for the love, connection and care that a close partner can provide. But I can help partners feel equipped to know what is most helpful to the birthing mother in this space. We can work as a team, so that the birthing mother is never alone and feels surrounded by people who believe in her. Additionally, I can help care for the needs of the partner as they arise; for example making sure they are eating and drinking and offering encouragement and verbal processing as needed.

While I am not a trained photographer by any means, I am happy to capture any pictures/videos that you desire throughout the labor process, as permitted by your birth place. I am also incredibly in tune to being helpful with whatever needs arise which can include, but is not limited to; packing up the car or labor room, navigating family/friend updates, helping pack up a cord blood banking box, etc. Those extra sets of trained hands and eyes are truly invaluable.
Postpartum support (usually 1-2 hours after birth). I help make sure your immediate needs are met and help with initial breastfeeding, if desired.
A postpartum visit to process the birth, discuss newborn care and postpartum recovery, as well as provide any resources or referrals that may be helpful. I will bring with me a timeline and description of your birth story as a keepsake for you to use however you would like (frame it, put it in a baby box or photo album).
